Making vectors

Viral vectors and plamids are genetically modified organisms that are subject to UK legislation. The first step is therefore to determine whether the planned work is covered by existing GM protocols or whether additional coverage needs to be sought. It will be especially important to consider whether the sequences involved are pathogenic (e.g. oncogenic or tumour suppressing) or otherwise hazardous.

Lawrence Moon can advise regarding design of lentiviral vectors for RNA interference.

Cloning and validation will be the responsibility of the customer.

John Grist, will grow cells, perform transfections and will titre viruses. He can also advise regarding and assist with experiments.
